MAGMA RISE has been around since 2009 and consists of all experienced musicians in the field of doom. How did the band come about, and would
you like to add a few important key facts about the band?
Gábor: The band was founded in 2009, but we have been old buddies with Kolos (guitar) for more than 40 years. We were founding members of MOOD (definitive doom metal band in Hungary) in 1993 as well. He played in STEREOCHRIST after MOOD disbanded in 2001, I was the singer of WALL OF SLEEP between 2002 and 2009. So, we have been around for a long time. MAGMA RISE are just a couple of old school metal fans, that’s all.

There were 8 years between your second and third albums. In between, there were a few smaller releases, but 8 years is a long time. What slowed you down back then?
Gábor: Actually, we were not slowed down. The second album „ The man in the maze“ came out in 2013, we released „False flag operation“ in 2016. This material wasn’t an „official“ full length album, but an EP with a playing time of 33 minutes. In 2017 we released an EP titled „At the edge of the days“ so we were active all the time.

There are only three of you at the moment. Your drummer Sándor is no longer with the band, according to band info. Why is he no longer with you guys and what impact does this have on the upcoming shows resp. the tour?
Gábor: To be honest we have a new guy on the drums already, an old friend of ours, his name is Csaba Kludovacz, the former drummer of STEREOCHRIST. He made his live debut with us 2 months ago. We will name him very soon as our „official“ member.
