Matthias: The idea came about when we were talking to several musicians about how long it sometimes takes to get to a certain point or take the next step because you simply don’t have the know-how. This gave rise to the idea that we could pass on this know-how from various areas to other musicians in online courses so that they could reach the “next step” much faster. We started working on the idea for Infield Inc. in 2022 and started the first courses in 2023. The platform has been around for about a year now and we are trying to promote it to help other musicians expand their knowledge. At Infield, we are a small team of experienced musicians who use their contacts with other experts in the music industry to share their expertise through the masterclasses.
How do you choose your mentors? What qualifications do they need to have and what does the scouting process look like?
Matthias: For the first courses, we looked for mentors who are experts in their subject area and who we already know through our network. This enabled us to ensure that we got the right mentors for the courses, who are qualified experts. It is important to us that our mentors have proven expertise and are authentic. They should be able to impart knowledge to the musicians in simple language so that they can take away as much as possible from the courses.
What do you have planned for the future? Will there be workshops, face-to-face seminars, webinars, etc., for example?
Matthias: We are working to build a community that can learn through the courses and thereby further their individual music careers. If the musicians are interested, we are considering going into more detail in the future and also creating 1:1 coaching, webinars or similar offers that help musicians to professionalize themselves.
