Sabrina Knoke - Record Label Owner

Kappelrecords is part of InLine Audio Studios. How long have the two formats been around and why is the combination in the end?
Sabrina: The studio began in Karlsruhe years ago. In 2020, we moved to Kappelrodeck to create space for a label and support artists more fully. Kappelrecords was founded in 2021. The combination lets us guide artists beyond recording - throughout the whole release process.

You also offer promotion and support for booking. How does that work? Can any band book this with you or do you only work with bands that also record in your studio? Which music genres do you mainly serve?
Sabrina: Promotion is tailored to each production, budget, and band’s needs. We approach it holistically. For booking, we offer evolving formats to support bands. We only work with our studio clients - our label is for in-house productions only. Musically, we focus on alternative rock.

What advantages and disadvantages does it have to position itself so extensively? What are the biggest challenges nowadays in working with bands/artists?
Sabrina: Close, long-term collaboration is a big advantage - you get to know each other better, which clearly benefits the productions. Challenges arise when bands lack knowledge of the music business or internal organization. This makes label work time-consuming and often unprofitable. Indie label work only functions with active involvement from the band - without that, it doesn’t work
