THEY PROMISED ME PONIES (DE)

This year you are celebrating your 10th anniversary. Do you have anything planned for this special occasion, apart from the release of the new album? If so, what, and since we have already mentioned the new album, you are welcome to say a few words about the album.
Steffen: Now that you mention it, we’re celebrating 10 years of TPMP this year. In fact, we didn’t really realize that because our focus was on the new album. So no, we don’t have anything special planned for the band’s anniversary. We’re playing in the Netherlands in October and in Poland in November plus a few local shows to support the new record. Well, maybe we’ll start something for the 15th anniversary. Or the 20th. The new album features 10 uncompromising songs, most of them dealing with current injustices in the world, what explains the album title and the artwork.

The title „It’s getting worse“ and also the cover of the new album are not very optimistic about our world or world events. Do you still see hope at all or what would have to happen for you to draw hope for humanity again on the next album?
Steffen: There’s always hope. It has to be, otherwise we could just shut the whole thing down. Things are really heating up right now, here and all around the world, socially, politically or environmentally. But there are many things worth fighting for and many people doing just that. So, there is hope!

In your info the „harmless-seeming“ band name is addressed. Does it happen that you are underestimated or put in the wrong pigeonholes because of the band name? Skatepunk, thrash and hardcore – how do you reduce the range of influences to what can ultimately be heard on your records?
Steffen: I don’t think we’re underestimated. It’s more like if the flyers/posters for shows don’t explicitly mention a genre, people often don’t expect us to be a hardcore band. That’s what makes it so exciting and surprising. Regarding our style, we’re five guys with different musical tastes and backgrounds. That’s why everyone in the band is adding his own touch to the songs
