Johnny Raw - Anti-racist Online Band Support
Who and what is behind Johnny Raw Support? Tell us something about the background and yourself. What prompted you to set up Johnny Raw Support?
Johnny Raw: I founded Johnny Raw on December 1st, 2017, as a support site for a band I was friends with (EDGAR ALLAN POGEN - hence the raven head logo), which is unfortunately no longer active. After a short time, other bands/artists got in touch who loved the idea and asked if I would be interested in supporting them too. So, it grew bit by bit, and the goal is to create a community for artists and event organizers who don’t want to deal with gray areas.

On your Instagram profile you can also find the links to Anarchy Construct & Anarchy Construct Studio. What are these things about and how are you involved in it yourself?
Johnny Raw: Anarchy Construct is a collaboration between two friends. Anarchy Construct Studio has been around for quite some time. Recently, an online shop was launched. In addition to records and tapes, it offers a wide variety of clothing, stickers, etc. from Red & Black Siebdruck (formerly Stammlokal Siebdruck).
Which bands, artists & promoters get your support? What do you pay particular attention to and what are exclusion criteria for you? How deep do you go into background research on the topic of gray area bands?
Johnny Raw: Support is given to bands, artists, event organizers, and other organizations that take a clear stand against sexism, fascism, and other inhumane ideologies. I try my best to avoid gray areas and am happy to be corrected if I do slip up. Even with the most thorough background research, something can still slip through the cracks.
