Peter - Festival Organizer

If I am correctly informed, you are celebrating your 10th anniversary this year. Please tell us how the festival came about, what unicorns have to do with the festival and what problems you have to deal with as a festival organizer nowadays?
Peter: Thomas and I (Peter) lived near Marburg in a village called Dilschhausen, and we weren’t very happy with the Metal concerts in and around Marburg, so we’ve decided to take care of it ourselves. And to get the attention of the people, we’ve decided not to use any generic kind of promoting such an event. Therefore, we’ve started using the unicorn theme instead of splatter themes, and somehow it works. So, the first years the Masters Of The Unicorn (MOTU) took place in Dilschhausen, and then the festival moved to Ernsthausen/Burgwald.

Your focus at the MOTU festival are „harder“ bands. How does the booking process work for you? What do you value most about bands or their applications?
Peter: The most important thing is, that we have to like the bands. And actually, there isn’t really an application process. Every year we work out a line-up with defined slots for each band. Then I start contacting the bands, and most of the time we are lucky, that the bands want to play at our small festival.

Is there a band that you would like to see at the festival, but haven’t managed to get it yet?
Peter: @wolfbrigadeofficial! There were several reasons why it hasn’t worked out yet, but we’ll try it again, and again, and again ...
