Schwermetallisch Reviews – what’s behind it? What exactly do you do there and on other platforms? How important is cooperation resp. networking with colleagues in that biz to you?
Dennis: I started as a writer for online magazines in 2012. After a rather long pause due to my computer breaking down, I restarted in 2019. I also wanted more and started my own brand Schwermetallisch. My main mission is to write as much as I can and do as much video content as possible to support the metal scene. Besides I want to establish my own brand. Collaboration and networking are key when you want people to know you and as far as I see it, the more people know me the more value comes with my support.

As mentioned, you are active on various channels. TikTok, Instagram, Threads. Facebook, etc. Are all channels equally important to you or do you also operate some platforms just to be represented on all fronts? Which platform is most important to you and why?
Dennis: Not all platforms work equally in favor of niche content, so my main base is Instagram because I got the most followers here. I plan to do more on TikTok and YouTube so there is no escape from Schwermetallisch. YouTube is cool, but it’s a lot of work and niche content is dead in the water quickly.
When you deal with a band or their album for a review, how do you go about it? What is important to you? Do you perhaps have a guilty conscience about less good reviews, because you could do the band an injustice?
Dennis: There are three ways for a review to happen at Schwermetallisch: I get an EPK from my @crossfire_webzine_germany editor, a band approaches me directly or I discover a band myself and ask them if they would like to get a bit of support. There’s of course music I just don’t like and therefore I don’t review here. Apart from that there are bands I wouldn’t work with due to their political stances (Trump supporters, NSBM etc.).
