Marco (Bonkas) - Internet Radio Presenter
You have your own show „Bonka’s HC Time“ on Rockheart-Radio.de. According to your profile, you have been HC infected since 1992. How did you come to HC, what still fascinates you about it and how open-minded are you towards other musical styles?
M: I first came to hardcore through hardcore rap. ICE-T, PUBLIC ENEMY, RUN DMC and BEASTIE BOYS, where the guitar came into play. RUN DMC/AEROSMITH or PUBLIC ENEMY/ANTHRAX are also included. Later the sampler Judgment Night blew us away. In short, hardcore rap, then crossover to hardcore. The first song was classic BIOHAZARD with “Punishment” from the “Urban discipline” album. Then the usual suspects like SICK OF IT ALL, DOWNSET, AGNOSTIC FRONT and of course MADBALL. Mainly in the early days rather NYHC. A lot of things ran in parallel anyway and even today I still like to hear that stuff. The other day I celebrated SUCH A SURGE while browsing at home. I haven’t listened to it for ages, and I immediately felt like 16 again! The power and DIY idea have always fascinated me and still do today. Basically, however, my head is also open to all varieties of music with a few exceptions.

Rockheart-Radio.de has been around since 2022. Are you a founding member yourself? What and who is behind? What do bands have to bring to the table to be played on your station?
M: Yes, I’m one of the founding members of Rockheart-Radio.de. We started as a group of presenters who were tired of the airs and graces of other online radio stations and therefore wanted to do our own thing. If you want to be played with us as a band or solo artist, you don’t have to bring anything else with you except music, rock in all variations and preferably a playable recording of your tracks. It costs nothing and the support for the artist has priority for us.
I saw that people can apply for being part of Rockheart-Radio.de. Who should feel addressed here?
M: Anyone who is up for moderation or editorial work can basically feel addressed first. The desire for rock music is important. Apply via Rockheart-Radio.de webpage and then we’ll see what we can do together.
