DMB Records - Label & Booking Agency
Lucien: Our goal was never to create a proper label or booking agency, we always just wanted to play as many live shows as possible. Over time, the 4-5 founding bands helped bring along more bands and eventually the whole thing grew.
You will have your 10th anniversary in 2026. Are there any special events planned for the anniversary? When you founded it in 2016, would you have thought that DMB Records could become such a success story?
Lucien: We are planning two special concerts for our 10-year anniversary in Bern and in Zurich and will feature as many of our bands as we can get to play. The whole thing will take place in summer, so it will be a big party, and everybody is welcome to join us. As for the second question – of course not. We decided to create DMB Records late at night after having too many beers. We weren’t thinking about the future, we just wanted to do something to help us, and other bands play shows in our area.
How do you organize yourselves internally, how are the tasks distributed? Is there a hard core of members or can every band that is under contract with you work on an equal footing? What’s important for you when you sign a new band?
Lucien: The hard core of DMB Records consists of three people who all help with what they can – booking, marketing, production, distribution, planning, etc. Luckly, all three of us are all full-time professionals in the industry. This means we have a vast network of contacts that all our bands can profit from. All our bands can also help and many do. As for what’s important for us in a band – be active, make music and have fun with it. As for the moment we do not take on any new bands, we have 27 bands and our hands are full. But we are looking into our strategies and hope to be able to take on new bands very soon.
