SCHLACHTRUF 1.3.1.2. (DE)

Base (dr), Johnny (vo/ba), Fleischmann (git) & Ullmann (git) with 3 facts about their band SCHLACHTRUF 1.3.1.2.

Please tell us a few key facts about SCHLACHTRUF 1.3.1.2. Who is behind the band, how long have you been around, etc.? Just everything we need to know about you.
Band: We are four guys from Lower Bavaria who, shortly before hitting our midlife crisis, decided to revive our old youth band. After Ullmann found an old demo of ours two years ago, the idea of finally finishing that song was born during a long night of heavy drinking together with Johnny. Fleischmann was immediately on board. After our first meeting, it was clear to everyone: after 12 years, we are back! With Base, the band was complete. We make music for ourselves, and we’re happy if other people end up liking it too.

In the press release for the new album “Remaster against humanity,” your DIY affinity is emphasized. Why is that important to you? How does DIY affect you in particular? Among other things, there is also talk of self-made instruments. Why that?
Ullmann: Spending money and letting other people do the work doesn’t really match what we think the spirit of punk is about. I’ve always done everything myself - back in the day because I simply had no money, and today because I genuinely enjoy it.
Fleischmann: We recorded, mixed, and mastered our album ourselves. The artworks are all our own, and the highlight was that we even filmed and edited our entire music video ourselves.
Johnny: At some point I started building my own basses and guitars, and together with Ullmann I discovered how much fun it is to experiment and bring new ideas to life.

Lyrically, you move in the field of tension from “not to be taken seriously” to “socially uncomfortable.” What inspires you with your lyrics?
Johnny: It’s simply totally over the top. That’s because we work a lot with satire and exaggeration.
Base: Things that piss us off (that can be such minor things as open shoelaces) get massively dramatized or sharpened by us and then wrapped into wild stories that are meant to make people think. We draw our inspiration from things we encounter in life and that occupy our minds.
