Could you please tell us something about BRGN Radio, the background to the web radio station and how you got into radio yourself?
Meikl: Years ago, we took over an existing web radio (Radio Festung) and turned it into BRGN Radio. Our intuition is simply to spread good music. No matter which direction. Without a drawer. No Borders, just music! Since we have all been DJs for many years, this station was the next step. Age-appropriate DJing from home.

On your homepage it says „We do web radio. Non-commercial, unprofessional, non-conformist and independent. Without advertising, around the clock.“ Are there any efforts to change anything at some point? Unprofessionalism in particular certainly changes over time. You become safer, better and more structured. This increases the reach and you may become more commercial. Could that happen to you?
Meikl: We will not and do not want to be perfect or professional. The commercial aspect also plays no role at all. We are music nerds and have found another nice hobby and a great playground here. Here we can let off steam. We are perfect and professional in our main jobs, that’s enough. We don’t have to and don’t want to make money with it. That would be wrong. In principle, we also don’t care about the range. We have fun tinkering with the show, whether anyone hears it or not, so what. Nevertheless, we are always happy to receive feedback, which also comes often.

What do bands or artists have to bring with them to be considered by BRGN Radio or in other words, what kind of music/art does not get a platform with BRGN Radio?
Meilkl: Basically, everyone gets a platform, no matter what style. This goes by itself in the indie/underground direction. But it doesn’t have to. It goes without saying that everyone should be on the good side from the heart.
