PMP Shows e.V. - Association for Rock Shows in the Lower Rhine Region

Who is behind PMP Shows e.V. and how many members do you have? What is the association’s mission?
PMP: We have been an association since 2013 and have 25 volunteer members and an additional 50 volunteers at the festival. The idea is to hold high the flag of punk music in the flat countryside and to get young people to form bands or get involved against the right or the like.

You organize the Punk Meets People Festival once a year. What challenges do you face as an organizer of the organization? How many events do you organize in a year beyond the festival? What is particularly important to you at your events?
PMP: In addition to the festival (1000 guests), we are also doing a Christmas show (300 guests) and two small club shows (130 guests). Due to the rising costs, the challenge is to create the best program for an affordable price with the greatest possible offer for our guests. The scene is dying due to less and less promotion of culture. It is important for us fans to provide access to our festival.

What criteria do you use to select the artists for your events? Is punk absolutely necessary or are you also willing to think outside the box?
PMP: The criteria for the search for artists are diverse. Above all, it has to click with me. We attach great importance to a balance in terms of female artists. That’s just important to us. But musically, there are always outliers to punk.
